Vallejo CD Release Party
by Laura Rojo

We were invited to the release party for the new Vallejo CD Stereo at Lucky Lounge on November 4, 2002. The guys are very excited about this new album and they have reason to be. This CD rocks. If possible, their sound has gotten even better and you can definitely tell they are more experienced musicians.

AJ and Heath

This is their first CD released under their new label and it has a fantastic sound. I played it all through my round trip to Houston and have continued listening to it for the last two weeks. The more I listen to it, the more I like it. There is a good variety on the song selection and they have added some great ballads to their mix.

Alejandro and the next Vallejo generation

Take a Ride, is slated to be their first single. Downtown has a fantastic groove. The lyrics of both songs paint a very vivid picture in your mind. They have great beat and chorus lines that people definitely will sing along to.

Gigi Greco, Vallejo's publicist

Vices is a great song that just tells you to “do what you can do to get the pressures off of you ‘cause no one’s perfect” as long as you ‘just don’t abuse it.’ Devils and Hard Times take a look at the reality of our society and how we need to deal with it.

Omar Vallejo talking to Doug LaRue, Editor of Capitol City Arts and Entertainment

I am very partial to Rock Americano with a great beat and awesome tongue in cheek lyrics that many latinos are going to relate to. Answers has a great latino sound and guitar riff feeling that reminds me of the great Carlos Santana.

Vallejo

Diego and his daughter

A few of the songs on this CD talk about relationships. I cannot pinpoint a favorite since all of them are fantastic. It is up to you to decide the one that speaks to you: You Are, Wait For Me, So Damn Beautiful and Let’s Talk About It. The guys are crafted lyricists and their music enhances these beautiful songs.

Heath, Omar and his son

Mexican Radio is a great remake of the Wall of Voodoo hit and it has a lot of the Vallejo sense of humor that we all love and enjoy so much. According to the guys, Mark Proctor, their manager, ask them to do a cover song, and after giving it some thought, all agreed this would be a good to remake

Carl Thiel and Mark Proctor

The guys thanked Gigi Greco, Mark Proctor, Carl Thiel (who produced the album alongside with the guys in the studio) and Lisa Fawcett (their webmaster) for their support on getting the CD out to the public.

Lisa Fawcett and her son

AJ, Alejandro and Omar mentioned that they are working on a Spanish version of this great CD to come out next year. We will be waiting to get our hands to that version of it as soon as it is ready. For now, the English version CD gets 5 out of 5 stars.

Johnny Goudie and AJ Vallejo

If you have not bough it yet, it is available at a music store near you or can also buy it directly from Vallejo at their website: www.vallejomusic.com. If you are a Vallejo fan, this CD definitely needs to be added to your collection. If you are new to Austin music, this is a great way to be introduced to some awesome music.
